Data for good – why a data strategy is critical to post-Covid recovery

The pandemic has accelerated the pace of digital transformation, driving the value of data to the top of the agenda for boards and directors across all sectors and industries.

In fact, EY’s recent non-executive directors (NED) risk barometer concluded that “rapid technological advances mean that digital transformation, data and cybersecurity have become key priorities. With COVID-19 likely to both intensify and accelerate these changes, NEDs and boards must fully understand these new technologies and their impacts.”  In a recent survey, IoD members rated digital transformation and data governance in their top five development priorities.

COVID-19 has brought the positive and transformative impact of data to the forefront. Data has and continues to be used for good; in order to innovate, create more meaningful customer experiences, and increase revenue. The challenge now is to ensure directors and boards embrace the new ‘data-driven’ society to reap the rewards it has to offer.

TrueCue are collaborating with the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Open Data Institute (ODI) to respond to these rapidly emerging challenges. Recognising that senior executives are ultimately responsible for their company’s data and that the impact of poor data stewardship on companies’ reputations can be highly damaging, we are working together to better prepare directors for their role in data governance and strategy. This is a vital building block for creating a strong data infrastructure across society, keeping supply chains functioning and businesses trading ethically and profitably in normal times as well as during a crisis.

The learning outcomes for this session include:

• Highlight data governance opportunities and risks and their connection to an organisation’s overall strategy
• Appreciate the importance and value of data-driven decision-making at board level;
• Identify some of the capabilities required to deliver data resilience and sustainable growth for your organisation
